How to deal with them? Everyone&#8217;s eyes are on the management team. And what do they do? Just a suggestion: They make sense, for a start!<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Not long ago, the magazine &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.managerseminare.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Managerseminare<\/a>&#8216; asked HR specialists &#8220;how much psychology companies can tolerate&#8221;.&#8221; The experts agreed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Psychological knowledge is at least helpful, if not necessary.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2598 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/trellisterium.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Piktogramm-Gruppe-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"382\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/trellisterium.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Piktogramm-Gruppe-4.jpg 410w, https:\/\/trellisterium.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Piktogramm-Gruppe-4-300x280.jpg 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 410px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 410\/382;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1>How trivial<\/h1>\n<p>I thought. After all, the purpose of leadership is to organize people and processes in such a way that they successfully create lasting value. How should that be done without addressing the employee&#8217;s needs and concerns &#8211; including their psyche?<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, in many areas we have long seen that psychology is used for good reason: Advertising, sales, sports. Which project manager is not familiar with the kindergarten arguments that crop up at some point in every project?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>And be honest now:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong>Don\u2019t we work with sandbox methods ourselves from time to time? Hand on heart: What do we really know about how we function, or our fellow men, colleagues, employees and managers?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Practical psychological knowledge? The many work-related mental health problems indicate this, too. However, it is not necessary to look into the ugly lowlands of spreading stress diseases to find evidence for this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Even inconspicuous developments say enough, such as the fact that fewer and fewer people are willing to seek leadership positions and refuse to follow appropriate career paths.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">To the great astonishment of many alarmed companies, the motivational tool of status, power and money no longer works as it used to. What is the matter?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"graf graf--p\">There is no doubt<\/h2>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">that HR managers and executives today have difficult tasks: Finding qualified personnel that fit the company or even get employees to take on (leadership) responsibility, be innovative, perform well and stay healthy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Companies are slowly but surely finding answers to many open and pressing questions: flexible working hours, today even with home office, childcare, specialist careers, etc.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong>But as welcome and necessary as these offers are, they only aim at the structural conditions. However, they do not touch the core of the company: the (managerial) daily routine and daily interaction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">People Make Sense<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">This daily interaction is shaped solely by our essential attitudes. In the face of competition, the pressure to act and perform, hierarchical, structural, and process thinking, we often lose sight of the essentials:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong>Companies exist to serve people. People work for people. And they do this together with other people. What are their motives?<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">One of the most important findings is: People are always striving for sense, meaning, purpose. Constantly. Only when there are emotional or rational reasons\u200a\u2014\u200ameaningful to us, not to others\u200a\u2014\u200awe are ready to really get involved. Only then we are willing to really perform. The more meaningful something seems to us, the more we get involved\u200a\u2014\u200aand vice versa.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong> So how much psychology can organizations tolerate? Especially in these times of increasing competition, this question seems bizarre. At least, this applies to managers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">After all, their only job is to ensure the company\u2019s success\u200a\u2014\u200ain the long term\u200a\u2014\u200aby shaping the work environment accordingly. That is what they are paid for. However, for a start it could be enough to become aware of why we call meetings, manage projects, make phone calls, fill Excel lists or set up budgets:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\"><strong>We do this\u200a\u2014\u200aexclusively\u200a\u2014\u200ato serve people. And to give our actions a real meaning.
